A LETTER FROM JACKIE
Jacquelyn Lewis Glenn, raised in Badin NC. Currently resides in Charlotte. I was married to retired educator Nathaniel Glenn Jr, and proud mother of 3 sons, Marcus, (Crystal), Maurice, (Nakisha), Marshal (Wenalyn). Graduated with BS in Business Administration NC Central University, Durham, NC in 1973. While attending college I worked as a salesclerk at Belk Dept Store Quenby Mall during the summers. After graduating college, I was employed at Alcoa Aluminum Company in Badin in 1976. I was considered the highest paid African American woman in the county. My father proudly announced it everywhere he went. From casual conversations to the pulpit. I met Nathaniel Glenn Jr in college at NCCU. We were married in 1979. I was later employed with NC Federal Savings and Loan in Matthews. In God's infinite wisdom and plan for my life, my career in education began as a teacher assistant at Cochrane Middle. I continued my education and received my MS degree in Special Education from UNC-Charlotte. I taught for 16 years in the Gaston County School System at Stanley Middle School. " I entered the field of education with the idea that I could make a difference in the system, I felt was failing our children. I quickly learned that our children's success begins at home". AND I have preached that ever since. My career was successful overall, however, as any job, it took its toll.
Now that I have retired, I am waiting for a sign as to what I should do with the rest of my life. I want to enjoy my family and friends. How good God is! Just being available to assist others is a joy for me.
Respectfully Submitted by Jackie
