Deacon Fredrick Gilliam Obituary

Frederick (Fred) Douglas Gilliam of 178 Irby Road Spartanburg, SC, born September 14, 1943 departed this life on Saturday, October 12, 2024. He was the husband of Carrie Louise (Irby) Gilliam. The son of late Monk Turner and Pearl Elmore. Fred Gilliam was a faithful member of Greater Hopewell Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon and Trustee, Usher, Choir member, Van Ministry and Outreach Ministry. Fred Gilliam was employed in the textile industries. After retiring Fred was employed with the District 5 custodian services. He worked with the W. J. Gist Mortuary and Alexander, Casey and Gist Funeral Service. Fred Gilliam proceeded in the death by his brother, McDuffie Gilliam and son, John Gilliam. Survivors include daughters, Maria (James) Franklin of Charleston, SC; Tina (Ronald) Higgins of Woodruff, SC; Lula (Ronald) Lytle of Spartanburg, SC; Schenell Hawkins of Spartanburg SC; Sons, Frederick D. Gilliam Jr. of Spartanburg, SC, Gary (Barbara) Irby of Spartanburg, SC; Brother, John A. Gilliam of Woodruff, SC; Sister, Lillie G. Stephens of Woodruff, SC; Sister in Law, Charlie Mae Gilliam of Woodruff, SC; 15 Grandchildren, 15 Great – Grandchildren, 1 Great, Great -Grandchild; A host of nieces, nephews and other relative and friends
